Biomass energy is renewable source of energy The energy is obtained by sunlight stored in carbohydrates in materials (Ex trees) When carbohydrates are burned from the materials, they turn back into to a gaseous form and release the energy they captured from the sun. Biomass fuels provided about 4 percent of the energy used in the United States in 2010

4. The Advantages of Using it? It’s a renewable source Biomass is an organic material (natural to environment) Biomass can use biological wastes from industrial places and home used products. Cost-Effective/Cheaper compared to coal and oil. Typically they cost about 1/3 less than fossil fuels doing the same job. Biomass is available in large quantities all over the world.

5. The Disadvantages Doesn’t produce as much energy compared to fossil fuels. Using animal and human waste to power engines may save on carbon dioxide levels, but are harmful to the Earth’s ozone layer. To power using enough lumber to power a nation full of vehicles or even a power plant, companies would have to clear a forest area. Destroying the homes of countless animals and plants.
