2 On page 1 of your journal… Please answer the following question What makes a story unforgettable? Answer in 2-3 sentences Hint: Start by thinking of your favorite book or story then think about all the elements that kept you interested. Vocabulary Define: ferocity, quiver, linger, sheepishly Ex: 1. Ferocity: fierceness, anger 2. Quiver:

3 Once completed, this will go on page 3 of your Journal… Pick up the your warm-up sheet located on the cart in the front of the class and complete the activities. Vocabulary Define: portly, unison, conviction, scowl, trudge

4 On page 5 in your journal… Write a summary paragraph (5-7 sentences) of your favorite story, book, or movie.

5 On page 7 of your journal… 1. Choose one of the 4 types of conflicts we’ve discussed. 2. Then draw a picture that is symbolic of the relationship between the protagonist and a antagonist in that particular conflict. Ex: Character vs. Nature Car (person in car)= Protagonist Tornado= Antagonist

6 On page 12 of your journal… Think of a situation in your life that is similar to the story “Seventh Grade.” Describe that incident in a few sentences. If you do not have a similar life event then try to think of a book that you have read that relates to situations that occurred in this story.

7 On page 14 in your journal… Answer the following question… What does the future look like to you? Think of advances in technology, breakthroughs in medicine, the state of the world: air, supplies, nature, etc… Write these words down. Then rate them on a scale of 1-3. 1= I don’t know what this word means at all uninhabitable 2= I have pretty good idea of what it means 3= I know what it means: I can define it and use it 1. Copious 2. Disembodied 3. Evasive 4. Foray 5. Foresight(ed) 6. Languish 7. Posterity 8. Reproof

8 On page 16 of your journal…  Grab a yellow Warriner’s Handbook textbook from the back green table.  On page 28 of that textbook, read the paragraph for Exercise 4.  Then, write down every proper noun, common noun, and pronoun you see. You must tell which sentence you found it in by stating the number of the sentence (F.Y.I There are ten sentences all together)
