5 th Graders You are about to begin a journey back in time to learn about the history of our great state. Purpose Iowa became the 29 th state on December 28, 1846. It is important to learn about the people who have called Iowa home throughout its history. It is also important to learn about the histories of the towns of Adair and Casey and the families who have lived and worked in these communities. This Pathfinder will help you locate resources in the school library, in our local communities, and throughout the state that can be used to complete your study of Iowa History.

Searching the Adair-Casey Webrary Navigate to the school website www.accs.k12.ia.us.www.accs.k12.ia.us Click on the link for “Our Online Library” at the top of the page. Conduct a basic search by typing information in the dialog box. Use the dropdown menu to search by keyword, author, title, or subject. Use the next dropdown menu to search the high school library, the elementary library, or all collections. Click “GO” to get your results.

The library also has issues of Iowan magazine and Our Iowa magazine. Primary Sources Adair-Casey Community School. (1960-present). Adair-Casey High School yearbook. Located in the high school library back room Adair-Casey High School yearbooks are archived in the high school library. There are also a few selected yearbooks from Adair High School and Casey High School prior to school consolidation. Primary Sources Littler, W. E. (Ed.). (1894- present). The Adair news. The Adair News 403 Audubon St. Adair, IA 50002 (641) 742-3241 Issues for the current year are located in the high school library periodicals section. The Adair News was established in 1882. The news office has hard- bound copies of every paper since 1894. Older issues of the paper were destroyed in a fire. Vertical File Located in the high school library vertical file under I for “Iowa” and “Iowa History” The vertical file contains information about Iowa and its history. Retrieved from school.eb.com school.eb.com You can access this site using Adair-Casey’s online database user name and password. The elementary online encyclopedia provides links to articles about Iowa’s history, economy, and geography as well as famous Iowans including Black Hawk and Herbert Hoover.
