Accessing Endowment Proceeds New Process – Educational awards (scholarships) are processed at UP directly against endowment spending accounts – Program expenditures to be made directly against available endowment spending funds on account at UP OR – Program expenditures made at the county level and a request for reimbursement from endowment spending funds – Contact for navigating new process is Cindy Kunes (cak3@psu.edu)cak3@psu.edu

Accessing Endowment Proceeds Previous Process – Does not comply with audit requirements or state and federal student aid regulations – Creates stewardship issues No Change – Interest income funds available in full to support the programs – Commitment to provide educational and program support to local programs

Yes, if… Donor is an individual, company, association, or foundation Qualifies as charitable contribution by IRS Donor may define the purpose Unexpended funds do not have to be returned No quid pro quo A report of expenditures may be requested Research results are not required to be shared
