4. The gladiators were allowed to pick their own armor and weapons that they were most comfortable with. Examples: Samnite Thracia Secatos Retiarius Hoplomarchus Murmillones

5. Sometimes slaves would run away and get caught. That would make their owner’s mad and the owner would make an unfair fight in the colloseum.

6. Any possible fight would be in the arena. Lets say three tigers verses a lion, or five gladiators verses 20 untrained slaves. Even naval battles fought in the arena.
