4 General Guidelines Conduct yourself in a responsible manner;

5 Read instructions before starting experiments Follow all instructions carefully

9 What should you do before starting an experiment? READ instructions

10 When should you wear goggles? At ALL times during an experiment

12 Keep work areas clean and tidy; Keep aisles clear

13 Know the locations and operating procedures of all safety equipment Safety Shower

17 Dispose of all chemical waste properly, according to instructions; Clean equipment and work area after use; Return all materials to proper location

18 Dress properly during a lab –Tie long hair back –No dangling jewelry –No loose, baggy clothing

19 No sandals (shoes should completely cover top of foot) Wear lab aprons

20 Never handle broken glass with your bare hands –Use a dust pan and brush –Place broken glass in glass disposal container

21 Never use chipped, cracked or dirty glassware; Never leave a lit burner unattended; When heating a substance in a test tube, never point the mouth of the test tube at yourself or others;

22 Never look down into a container that is being heated; Be careful – hot glass doesn’t look hot!
