1 Agricultural Revolution in Great Britain  Oct. 2-3, 2013  Objective: Students will draw conclusions from texts to analyze the Agricultural Revolution and the changes that occurred in Great Britain as a result.  Warm-Up: Paraphrase this in your notebook: technology - the human application of knowledge, tools and inventions to meet human needs.

4 The Agricultural Revolution  First occurred in England and later spread throughout Europe  1700 – 1900s  Transformed the way people, dependent on hunting, gathering and fishing, survived.  Advancements included:  greater land use particularly undeveloped or fallow land,  new and improved agricultural equipment such as plows, sickles, hoes, seed drill.  The introduction of crop rotation and necessary crops such as potatoes and turnips.

5  An improved plow was heavier than the wooden ones before it, with iron tips that were able to dig deeply into the hard cold soil.

6 Seed drill - A device that precisely positioned seeds in the soil and then covered them.
