4 Warm-up  What is your favorite book or story?  Why is this your favorite? In other words, what makes it an interesting piece of literature?

5 “The Landlady” by Roald Dahl  A closer look at the story  Identification of Dahl’s use of literary devices  Analysis of how he crafts his story for both entertainment and meaning

6 Literary Terms Definitions  As we work through the analysis of the Dahl story, write down definitions of the terms on the handout provided.

7 “Hint” illustration task 1. With a partner, track all the hints Dahl provides in “The Landlady” and list them. 2. Select one of the hints to illustrate. 3. Write quotes on the illustration which support your interpretation of the “hint.” 4. Cite the quotes (Dahl pg. #)
