2 Outcome-Based Approach - Why What instructors teach, and what students learn should be directly relevant to the needs of society (i.e. future employers). OBE focuses on this. All universities in Hong Kong doing this for 4-year undergraduate programs in 2012 This approach is endorsed by HKIE, CILT and also ABET (in USA).

5 This Course – A Joint Effort This is one of about 40 courses implementing outcome-based education in this semester Teachers have agreed to move toward an “outcome-based approach” We want to know what works for students We want to know how best to implement this approach for other courses
