3 Dreamweaver Behaviors A predefined JavaScript code the performs an action –Opening a browser window –Showing or hiding a page element When triggered by an event –Mouse click

4 Three step process Create or select the page element that triggers behavior –Often a hyperlink applied to text or image Choose the behavior to apply Specify settings or parameters of the behavior

5 Behaviors Offered Dreamweaver has more than 16 built-in Windows > Behaviors Hundreds others may be downloaded –Adobe Exchange Click Add Behavior (+) icon in Behaviors Panel Choose get more behaviors Download extension

6 Behaviors Offered cont. Opening a browser window Swapping one image for another to create a rollover effect Fading images of page areas in and out Growing or shrinking graphics Displaying pop-up messages Changing the text or other HTML content within a given area Showing or hiding sections of the page Calling a custom-defined JavaScript function

7 Behavior Flexibility Each behavior invokes a unique dialog box –Relevant options and specifications ie – width, height and other attributes of new Open Browser Window behavior Multiple behaviors to same trigger –Appears simultaneous Actually in sequence you can choose
