The First World War began on 25 th April 1915, members of the Australian Army Force landed at Gallipoli, with troops from New Zealand, Britain, and France. Following Gallipoli, Australian forces fought campaigns on the Western Front and in the Middle East. It started when a man, called Gavrilo Princip killed a Hungarian man Duke Franz. World War 1 finished in 1918.

The seas that most of the soldiers, would have traveled through are the Black Sea, Marmara Sea and Aegean Sea. Gallipoli is right on the tip of Turkey, the surrounding countries are Greece and Bulgaria. Gallipoli is very important to all the Allies, because they lost family and their best mates. Australia keeps Gallipoli, in our history because it was the fist time we had gone to war.

ANZAC means Australian New Zealand Army Corp. In Australia lots of people forget that New Zealand fought with Australian Soldiers. We have a day in New Zealand and Australia, where we remember the ANZACs that fought for us and are still putting their life on line for our country, that shows how much they love this country.

On ANZAC day people wear poppies, because they were the first plant to grow back after the war. On ANZAC day you, will hear the ode. It is a song of remembrance. If you are or were at war, at the end of the day you would here the bugle playing the Last Post. On ANZAC day you can go to a ceremony at a War Memorial. At a War Memorial there are big walls with the names of the soldiers that have fought for our country.

On ANZAC day I go to the traditional game of footy. On this day Essendon plays Collingwood. At the start of the day there is a service, at this time you have to sing the National Anthem and there is a minute silence. I feel that ANZAC Day is a very important day that should be supported. Thank you for watching my PowerPoint.
