3 What’s on your mind? What would you like to learn from this session today? I.E. - Fundraising tools, processes, rules of the road, expectations, best practices, how to get started, how to make an ask, how to finesse a relationship…….etc.

4 1. 4-H Development Council Update Support fundraising for 4-H in PA Members help to identify, cultivate, and solicit donations for 4-H Different roles – Make connections – Work with counties to grow local endowments – Leverage their personal network – Personal charitable contributions

5 1. 4-H Development Council Update Types of membership – PSU Affiliated – Volunteer – Honorary 3 year term 4 meetings annually 1 or 2 actions to support 4-H per month

7 2. Using the PSU Tax ID Number All gifts to 4-H in PA now fall under the PSU Tax ID number This includes gifts to clubs and to county programs If a donor requests the tax ID, understand why they are asking – Did they make a gift? – Was the gift accepted and acknowledged?

8 2. Using the PSU Tax ID Number If they use the PSU tax ID to document a gift PSU cannot substantiate, then the donor is as risk. Our role is to protect our donors We can best protect them by understanding their needs.
