Purpose of U.S. Gov’t “Form a More Perfect Union”: to bind all the states and prevent the nation from being fragmented “Establish Justice”: to make sure that laws are reasonable, fair, and impartial “Insure Domestic Tranquility”: provide order within the country and avoid anarchy “Provide for the Common Defense”: protect America against foreign enemies

11. Purpose of U.S. Gov’t cont. “Promote the General Welfare”: to provide society with basic services that are of benefit to the nation (mail service, public schools, maintain a clean environment, etc) “Secure the Blessings of Liberty”: to make sure that basic liberties are protected for Americans
