2 Teacher: Kenji Tachibana Digital Photography I Scale to 640 x 480: E-mail size R esizing Process: 1.Open an image in Photoshop. 2.Choose Menu > Image > Image Size. o Check off all 3 options at the bottom. o 72 pixel/inch is the default image resolution. If it’s not, type in 72 o Type in 640 for Width which will automatically fill in 480 for Height. o Click on OK to resize the image. o The on-screen image will shrink in size.

3 Teacher: Kenji Tachibana Digital Photography I DSLR 4:3 Crop Frame Layer R esizing Process: 3.Select the Magnifier Tool in the Toolbox and click on Actual Pixels button in the Options menu. 4.If your computer screen resolution is set correctly to 1024 x 768, the image will enlarge to fill the screen. 5.Review the screen info to make sure that it’s displaying at ‘File name @ 100%’. 6.Once the image is resized correctly to 640 x 480, save the image.

Example – ‘sendKenji_640.jpg’. 11.JPEG Options -Image Options - Quality 12 -Format OptionsBaseline Standard

5 Teacher: Kenji Tachibana Digital Photography I DSLR 4:3 Crop Frame Layer E -mail: Summary Even with fast internet connections, keep your file size small for practical considerations. It’s a crash waiting to happen when you e-mail images at full size. Even with a reduced file size, don’t send too many 640 x 480 images via E-mail. When you get into sending image files, do it using FTP (file transfer protocal) which is designed for sending huge data files.
