2. Bacterial Meningitis Among Children With Cochlear Implants… Our given document was written with: A primary audience of surgeons and doctors implanting and treating patients with cochlear implants. A secondary audience of parents with children with cochlear implants that fall in to the age group. A tertiary audience of general scientists and care- givers.

3. Deciding our audience We decided that focusing on the secondary audience for our technical document would be the wisest move because: Parents of these children want and need to know the information but do not have the expert knowledge to understand the study fully. Rewriting it in layman’s terms will help people without a scientific background understand information that will directly affect them.

4. The Technical Document We chose a brochure as our medium. We included information on: Cochlear implants, and what a positioner is. Bacterial meningitis; vaccinations, symptoms, and causes. The 2002 and 2004 studies that linked them both.

5. The Radio Announcement We chose a brochure as our medium. We included information on: First, cochlear implants, and what a positioner is. Then, bacterial meningitis, what causes it and how you notice it. Finally, the 2002 and 2004 studies that linked them both.

6. The Advertising Poster The poster’s most important aspect is the part that catches your attention. We chose to use the word « parents » as our title. While vague, the poster’s actual content would filter out those who didn’t need to read on. The poster, like the document, explains positioners as key to the study’s link to bacterial meningitis.
