Conformed to the Image of His Son Ephesians 1:4-5; Romans 8:29

A Family Resemblance A Family Resemblance  As a child grows, a family resemblance shows  Jesus’ likeness lives in those who have been born again (Gal. 3:26-27; Eph. 4:13)  His likeness must be formed within us. (Galatians 4:19; 5:4-21; 2:20)

Conforming by Copying Conforming by Copying  We shall bear the image of the heavenly Man! (1 Corinthians 15:49)  To be conformed to His image we must know His image (Colossians 3:10)  We must focus all of our attention on learning about Him (2 Peter 3:18; Luke 6:40; 2 Corinthians 3:18)  We must then imitate Him (Ephesians 5:1)

Transformation through Trial Transformation through Trial  Christ is our perfect example. –He suffered even though He never said or did anything wrong –We are to follow in His steps (1 Peter 2:21)  We must follow the One who transforms us into sons of God, and leads us to our heavenly home (Hebrews 2:10; 1 Peter 4:1)  We are never more Christ-like than when we are suffering for righteousness’ sake (Luke 9:23; Philippians 3:19)

Actuality OR Acting? Actuality OR Acting?  Hypocrites only appear to look like what God wants them to be (Matthew 23:27)  Children of God must lay aside all hypocrisy, desire the pure milk of the word, and grow! (1 Peter 2:1)

The Eternal Makeover The Eternal Makeover  Our transformation is not completed in this life; it will be finished when we see Him! (1 John 3:2; 1 Cor.15:47-59; Luke 20:35-36)  There should be a yearning in every child of God for the moment of our final transformation (Philippians 3:20-21)
