Universal Gravity Universal Gravity is the law that gravity acts on all things. Meaning that even if you can't feel the forces of gravity, the objects around you have gravity just like you do. You may be confused but, lets say you have 60 pounds of flour on Earth. If you were to take those pounds to the moon it would be 1/6 of the original weight. Meaning now it is only 10 pounds. The moon has less mass then the earth meaning its gravitational pull is less then earths. You, also have less mass then the earth and the moon, therefore your gravitational pull has very little to no effect on the objects around you. The objects around you are also to small to have any gravity that can effect you.

Still to small a gravitational pull.....

Weight Weight is the force of gravity on an object. Weight is measured in pounds, weight is NOT mass. You measure weight by measuring the force of gravity on an object. If you were to go and stand on a scale here on earth, lets say it says your 120 pounds. If you were to take that very same scale to the moon and stand on it there, you would weigh 1/6 of what you did on earth. However your mass would not change.

Mass Mass is not to be confused with weight! Mass is the amount of matter in an object. One way to measure mass is to take a rock or something small, and stick it into a beaker full of water. Check how much the water rose, make sure to measure in grams, and that's the objects mass. Mass doesn't change no matter where you go. Even if you go to Venus, your mass never changes.

Horizontal motion Horizontal motion is the motion going horizontally of course. You only have so much horizontal motion before you start the vertical motion. If you can jump 20 feet I the long jump, that is your horizontal motion. However if you were to jump of a building to another that is 30 feet away. You will go Splat.

Vertical motion Vertical motion is the motion straight down. Unlike horizontal motion you don't have a limit. Until you hit the ground that is......if you jump of the building that is mentioned i Horizontal motion once that horizontal motion is gone you are going straight down the rest of the way.

9.8 m/s 2 9.8 m/s is the amount you fall per minute. If you were falling for 2 seconds, well 1 second is 9.8 miles, 2 seconds would be doubles. But if you were going 3 seconds it is NOT tripled it is just added to itself 3 times. 2
