5 If you are absent and ask someone to sign in for you: You will be marked absent for that class and the next class that you attend. If you sign in for someone else: You will be marked absent for that class, even though you were there.

14 Synonym Antonym Explanation Example Context Clues

15 Synonym A word with the same meaning is used in the sentence. E.G. “My opponent's argument is fallacious, misleading – plain wrong”

16 Antonym The use of words with the opposite meaning reveals the meaning of the unknown word. E.G. “ Although some men are loquacious, others hardly talk at all. ”

17 Explanation The unknown word is explained in the same sentence or in the following sentence. E.G. “ The patient is so somnolent that she requires medication to help her stay awake for more than a short time”

18 Example Specific examples are given to define the term. E.G. “ Celestial bodies, such as the sun, moon, and stars, are governed by predictable laws.”
