1 The WISE implementation plan and WISE development support by the Technical Group Stefan Jensen WISE GIS workshop 28.3.2006 Brussels

2Introduction WISE is a joint development by DG Env, Eurostat, JRC and EEA Develop WISE along a planning and management model

3 Planning phase (late 2005 – early 2006) Mature the WISE implementation plan in general Agree on key architecture elements and allocate development tasks Collect initial user requirements Start building a core WISE data model

4 Preparation phase (2006) Develop distributed elements Synchronisation architecture (JRC with EEA) WebMappingServices (EEA with partners) Develop public WISE viewer / website translate user requirements into system requirements analysis node functions based on core data model Integrate currently identified WISE data

5 Construction phase (2007 - 2010) Maintain and enhance established solution Expand system capabilities Expand reporting modules Integrate various thematic areas

6 WISE data and architecture design Some issues Implement design approaches for integration of disitributed spatial and non-spatial nodes Incorporate INSPIRE guidelines for the spatial issues Agree on data harmonisation (e.g. Coding) across applications >Set and implement standards for the WISE community

13 The WISE technical group Establised early March 2006 Provides technical advise to the steering group Jointly develop the WISE system Further develop the WISE implementation plan Give guidance for the GIS workshops with MS Update and issue GIS and other guidance documents

14 The WISE technical group Composition DG Environment, Eurostat, JRC, EEA (chair) Member State experts based on thematic agenda National and International projects to be integrated with WISE (e.g. Wasserblick, DanubeRB, Ebro..)

15 System design data synchronisation
