MATHEMATICS PROJECT WB: 10/05/2015

Introduction This project will count as 10% towards the final mark you receive at the end of the year. All students will need to complete the project and hand it to their class teacher by the end of the lesson on Thursday 14 th May 2015. Any student who does not complete this will receive 0 out of 10. Only one lesson will be dedicated to the project and students must complete the project at home.

TASK Your task is to design an A3 or A2 sized poster based on one of the topics on the following slide.

Year 7 1)Area and Perimeter. 2)Collecting and Displaying data. 3)Time. 4)Angle properties. 5)Ratio and Proportion. These topics can be found in the Checkpoint textbook.

Year 8 1)Area and Volume. 2)Collecting and Displaying data. 3)Sequences, function and Graph. 4)Angle properties. 5)Fraction, Decimal and Percentages. These topics can be found in the Checkpoint textbook.

Year 9 1)Area and Volume. 2)Processing and Presenting data. 3)Pythagoras Theorem. 4)Angle properties. 5)Ratio and Proportion. These topics can be found in the Checkpoint textbook.

Year 10 1)Area and Volume. 2)Collecting and Displaying data. 3)Trigonometry. 4)Pythagoras Theorem. 5)Angle properties. 6)Fractions and Percentages. These topics can be found in the IGCSE textbook.

You work will marked using the following criteria's. Points will be awarded for each criteria and then a final mark given. 1)Mathematical Skill – How advanced is the mathematical skill? Is the working out correct? How did you get to your answer? Is this information correct? Did they choose the correct topic assigned to their year group? 2)Creativity – Did you do something unique? Have you used 3D shapes or images? Is it a poster that uses your imagination? Did he go up and above and do more than expected? 3)Use of ICT/ Diagrams - Where the diagrams done by computer? Were any other software's used? Diagrams and graph done by computer? Work printed in colour? 4)Presentation – Was the work well laid out? Split into sections? Is the work neat? Name and Class written? Was colouring pen/pencils used? Were diagrams drawn accurately. Success Criteria

EXAMPLES NB: DO NOT COPY THE POSTERS!!

SUMMA RY 1)Design an A2 or A3 sized poster that relates to one of the topics mentioned on your year groups slide. 2)Look at the success criteria and ensure that you have good use of mathematical skill, good presentation, some use of ICT and the work is unique/creative. Extra credit will be awarded for work over and above. 1)Hand the final poster to your class teacher by Thursday 14 th May 2015. I WISH YOU ALL THE BEST
