2.  I chose the Iowa Hawkeyes is because they are my favorite football team. I also chose them because I wanted to learn more about them.

4. >Their mascot’s name is Herky. >They educate 79% of Iowa’s dentists, 50% of Iowa’s physicians, 48% of Iowa’s pharmacists, and 80% of Iowa’s K-12 teachers and administrators. >The students have their own radio station. >They have 6 museums on campus. >It was opened in 1929. >Football became a varsity sport at Iowa in 1889. >In 1900 the Hawkeyes joined what became the Big Ten Conference.

5. > By the early 1920s the Hawkeyes became one of the best teams in the country winning back to back Big Ten titles under the Hall of Fame Coach Howard Jones. > In March 1929 construction on a new football stadium began. Completed in just seven months, the Hawkeyes played their first game at Iowa Stadium on October 5, 1929 against Monmouth College. > The stadium was originally known as Iowa Stadium, but received it’s current name, Kinnick Stadium, in 1972. > Kinnick Stadium was named after Nile Kinnick.
