1 How To Write a Paper: Recipe Style By: Nicole Palmer

2 Ingredients: Writing a paper is similar to following a recipe. There are six ingredients you must include in a paper. -An Introduction -Body Paragraph 1 -Body Paragraph 2 -Body Paragraph 3 -A Conclusion -A Works Cited

3 Introduction: 3-4 sentences of brief overview of topic. This is like the seasoning of the recipe, you just sprinkle in a little of everything from your paper. Thesis statement: -a statement that clearly explains what each body paragraph topic will be related to in your paper. The thesis is arguable the most critical part of your paper, so make it worthwhile to read!

4 Body Paragrah 1: Introduce your first (of three) main idea. This is the meat of the paper and where you will convey your ideas. Make sure the paragraph only hits that one point Be sure to include: -introductory sentence -3-5 concrete sentences - a transition/conclusion sentence

5 Body Paragraph 2: This is where you present your second main idea. This is the meat of the paper and where you will convey your ideas. This paragraph should also include: -an introduction -3-6 concrete sentences -a conclusion

6 Body Paragraph 3: This is where you present your third main idea. This is the meat of the paper and where you will convey your ideas. This paragraph should also include: -an introduction -3-6 concrete sentences -a conclusion

7 Conclusion: This is where you tie everything together. There should be no new information in this paragraph. This paragraph should include: -a restatement of your thesis -3-4 sentences of wrapping everything up/tieing everything together

8 Works Cited: Separate page at the end of your paper Use MLA (or APA) format depending on requirements Put all sources in alphabetical order indent the second line if there is one
