REFLECTING ON PAST TIMES Like last semester…

 You are NEVER going to be truly great at something unless you make a habit of looking at what you’ve already done and figuring out what you can do to IMPROVE! Take Responsibility In Being Excellent

Professionals REFLECT on EVERY performance!

TODAY WE ARE GOING TO TAKE SOME TIME TO LOOK BACK AT YOUR “PERFORMANCE” IN THE FALL SEMESTER.

 Step 1 – Take out a piece of paper, put your name at the top, and title it “Fall Semester Reflection”.  Step 2 – Make 2 lists Classes that you did well in Classes that where you didn’t do as well as you could have  Step 3 – Write a statement that describes what the classes you did well in had in common. THE PATH TO GREATNESS

 Step 4 – Think about the classes where you didn’t do so well. Was there a common factor there? Write a statement that describes what you think was affecting your performance in these classes. Was it: Your attendance? Homework? The difficulty of the material? Test scores?Something else? All of the above? THE PATH TO GREATNESS

 Step 5 – Think about the class that you did the worst in (or the least best) last semester. What is one thing that you could do this semester to improve your performance? Here are some examples of things you might choose to do: THE PATH TO GREATNESS *Make an honest effort to improve attendance *Commit to coming in before or after school 1 day a week to get caught up *Take advantage of the tutoring center *Use study hall/free period to actually get work done *Have a study/homework partner for that class *Commit to checking grades in Q (Zangle) once a week *Give Acacia Park a break*Sleep at home instead of in class

THE EASIEST WAY TO SOLVE YOUR PROBLEMS IS TO AVOID THEM IN THE FIRST PLACE! As this new semester begins, you aren’t too far behind to get caught up. Yet.

PLEASE TURN IN YOUR PAPER TO YOUR TEACHER. He or she is going to be coming back to you with it later in the semester to see if you’re Becoming Excellent.  Think of the work you did today as a “New Year’s Resolution”.  One of the best ways to increase the chance of success with a resolution is to share it with someone who is likely to care. Responsibility Taking Responsibility In Being Excellent
