2 2 VOCABULARY Fraction- a number that describes part of a whole or part of a set. Numerator- top number of a fraction that tells how many parts of the whole or set you have.

3 3 VOCABULARY Denominator – bottom number of a fraction that tells how many parts there are in the whole or set. Proper Fraction – little number on top(numerator); big number on bottom(denominator)

4 4 VOCABULARY Improper fraction – a fraction with a value greater than or equal to 1. (Big number on top) Mixed number – a whole number and a fraction together.

13 13 To change a mixed number to an improper fraction: 1)Multiply the denominator by the whole number 1)Add the numerator 3) Write this sum over the denominator.
