2 INEE/MSEESession 1-2 Workshop Objectives  To identify and share challenges, lessons learnt and good practice experiences in follow-up trainings and implementation of the INEE Minimum Standards  To develop recommendations for improvements in training content and/or methodology in order to further facilitate the training process at regional and/or national levels  To provide refresher training sessions and share new tools to strengthen participants understanding of how to use the INEE Minimum Standards  To develop regional and national and country cluster (where appropriate) plans of action for deepening inter-agency coordination and collaboration to reach quality education

3 INEE/MSEESession 1-3 The Delegates 10 countries: Ethiopia, Eritrea, Somalia, Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, Sudan, South Africa, Sweden, UK 16 organizations: Save the Children, IRC, NRC, Windle Trust, CRS, World Vision, DAI, NCA, JRS, Cape Town Refugee Center, CARITAS, UNHCR, WFP, UNICEF, MoE Kenya, MoE Ethiopia 32 delegates  6 TOT graduates  15 had participated in a follow-up workshop  11 who had never been through a training on the INEE MS but received an orientation

5 INEE/MSEESession 1-5 DAY 1 (afternoon): Sharing recommendations and strategies Examples of recommendations: Content: Simplify vocabulary in the training materials Methodology: Contextualize activities + use local languages Participants: Engage participants in advance of the workshop through a pre-workshop assignment or questionnaire Logistics: Have budget lines for INEE activities Partnerships: Organize inter- agency trainings to share costs and roles and responsibilities

13 INEE/MSEESession 1-13 Day 3 (morning): Developing National Action Plans What are some initiatives or opportunities to work collaboratively at the national/regional level in the coming year? How can the INEE Minimum Standards and associated tools (coordination checklist, talking points, etc.) assist you in these collective initiatives? Are there opportunities at the national/regional level to collectively promote the INEE Minimum Standards?

14 INEE/MSEESession 1-14 Somalia World Vision and Save the Children to organize 3 trainings on the INEE Minimum Standards for MoE officials and NGOs World Vision, Save and MoE to organize 3 simplified trainings on the INEE Minimum Standards in local language for teachers and communities UN agencies and NGOs to disseminate the INEE Minimum Standards to donor agencies

15 INEE/MSEESession 1-15 Uganda Promote the INEE Minimum Standards within Education Cluster through advocacy and training Use the INEE Minimum Standards as a coordination tool to carry out joint assessments and joint planning Promote and use the INEE Minimum Standards in Back to School Campaigns, Education Week, etc.

16 INEE/MSEESession 1-16 Sudan South Sudan: Save the Children to give a presentation on the INEE Minimum Standards to the ERDF Each lead agency to organize a training on the INEE Minimum Standards for its Thematic Working Group NGOS to advocate the incorporation of the INEE Minimum Standards in April Education Campaign to UNICEF North Sudan: Save the Children to conduct a training and collaborate Education WG to develop implementation plan in Khartoum 11-13 Dec. 2007 + 2008: West Darfur, South Darfur, South Kordofan, Abyei, Blue Nile

17 INEE/MSEESession 1-17 Ethiopia Establish a national INEE Committee (UNICEF, Save the Children, IRC, Oromia region) Incorporate the INEE Minimum Standards in the work of the existing regional emergency task force Share resources, information and experiences accross agencies

18 INEE/MSEESession 1-18 Day 3 (afternoon): Other Initiatives… and how delegates can be involved with them  INEE, including Task Teams and Interest Groups  INEE Global Consultation 2009  Teacher Compensation Initiative  Disaster Risk Reduction
