5 What is the slope? How do we find the slope of a line from the graph? How do we use the slope to determine if lines are parallel or perpendicular? Parallel lines have the same slope Perpendicular lines – the slope is the opposite reciprocal How do we graph lines using slope and points? ` m = = rate of change =

6 FQ 2 of 2 What are auxiliary lines and when do we use them? Many proofs involve lines, rays, or segments that do not appear in the original diagram. These additions to the diagram are auxiliary lines. Most auxiliary lines connect 2 pts. already in the diagram. From the figure: Drawing a line through pt. H we create angles that allow us to use our postulates and theorems to find angle measures. See Ex. 2 Exit Ticket: Skills Practice Sect. 3.2
