Who are they: –Directors/managers of agencies that invest in GOV –Their staff are the ones commiting to do work –Their agencies are the ones paying for the Project Office Patrons are accountable for work done within GOV –They have delegated responsibility for the work to GOVST members –Important to keep them informed and profit from their advice Getting money for international Project Offices is difficult –we have to engage to obtain support

GOVST-III Meeting, ESA HQ, Paris, 14-18 November 2011 GODAE Final Symposium, 12 – 15 November 2008, Nice, France Actions from last meeting (2) Funding opportunities –Short papers on major challenges from each TT –Agreed champions advice would be useful –Need for OSEVal/IV post-doc to take work forward Travel support for meetings –Mentioned ONR funding of OSEVal/IV meeting –Aim for meetings to be self-financing when possible –Joint meeting with WGNE special case – Mike took action to re-check position with WGNE Communication plans –Progress with Observation Impact Statements noted –Agreed that Project Office should start work on Quarterly Newsletters

GOVST-III Meeting, ESA HQ, Paris, 14-18 November 2011 GODAE Final Symposium, 12 – 15 November 2008, Nice, France Progress Review of GOV GOVST co-chair input: –GOV workplan commits us to a 4-year planning and review cycle –recommend to hold a symposium and a formal review –Formal review should have clear terms of reference NOAA has offered to host a symposium @ Nov 2013 (thanks Hendrik !) –John Cortinas offered logistical support Patrons agreed –With joint Symposium/review proposal –That a progress review is needed –To request an independent review whose findings Patrons should endorse Purpose and scope of review –To advise on how to adjust GOV going forward; engage interest –Need clear metrics, use the work-plan as a basis Sub-committee to clarify options for scope by next telecon (6 months) –Mike Bell, Eric Lindstrom + … (at least one of GOVST co-chairs?)
