1 Analysis of Film Clip By Sam Hall and Ryan Hackney

2 The film clip The clip is from opening of Mad Max 2. This is the scene where Max is being chased by several bandits and has to overcome many obstacles. The scene is full of action, and switches between different camera angles many times throughout the scene.

3 Mise en shot C – Camera. A – Angle. M – Movement. P – Position. Here are a few analysis’ of some chosen shots from Mad Max.

4 Max’s face is concentrated on the task at hand, he doesn't show his expressions to his enemies mainly because he has done all this before and is certain he will outdo the challengers. Max’s dog looks tired as if to say he has seen it all before and is as experienced as Max in these types of quests. His dog is yawning in the main chunk of the action and is confident in Max pulling it off.

5 These two shots were both involved in the quick concession of camera angles. These were used frequently to show how hectic and tense this part of the scene was.

6 Mise en scene Max – Expression is almost emotionless, only feeling visible, intense concentration. His Look – Looks like a hardened, veteran warrior of the wasteland. He gives off a look of a hero who has been through a mission. Clothing – Leather armour that protects against the elements. These also give off a look of the sort of operation he has been set out to do in the desert. His Car – Beaten up, turbo charged muscle car, fast car is needed to overtake his enemies.

7 Mise en scene Enemies – Some are masked, others dress like punks. The makeup that the characters are wearing really expresses how evil they are. Enemy cars – The cars are painted in dark colours and decorated with skulls. This again shows that the enemies are not to be messed with and they are not friendly people to come across.

8 Mise en scene Max’s dog - Looks thin, sickly and slightly rabid. This shows that they may have been out in the desert for several weeks and Max has struggled to find food for the dog Wasteland – Barren desert of lawlessness. This is vulnerable to all kinds of murders, and
