4 Lab # 1 Lab # 1: Wacky Washers ( 8 washers)
To prepare for this experiment, stack 4 washers one on top of the other so that you form a tower of washers. Place the stack of washers on top of your textbook or on the floor so that you have a smooth, slick surface. Aim one washer at the bottom of the stack of four washers and give it a good hard flick with your finger or hand. What happens?  Flick a stack of two washers into a stack of four washers. What happens? Flick a stack of four washers into a stack of four washers. What happens? How many of Newton’s Laws could this lab represent? Which ones?

5 Lab # 2 Lab # 2: Dominoes ( 6 dominos, ruler, book)
1. Set up a book to use as a barrier so the dominoes do not leave the table. 2. Stack the dominoes with the widest parts touching each other. Place the stack 8 to 12 inches from the barrier. 3. Use the ruler to hit the bottom domino, sharply, toward the barrier. The bottom domino should be the only one that is dislodged, although others may move a bit. 4. Do the same thing, except this time, hit the domino lightly. 5. Restack the dominoes and attempt to reduce the pile, one domino at a time. A. . What happened when you hit the dominoes sharply? B. . What happened when you hit the pile gently?
