2. What is cover art? Obviously, an album cover is the artwork on the front packaging of a commercially released audio recording. This could be in the form of: an old-school record a CD single or album a DVD a box set the image that comes with a digital download of a track or whole album

The cover serves 4 main purposes: 1)To advertise the contents of the music product 2)To convey the artistic aspirations of the original artists 3)To serve as a primary image in the promotional efforts surrounding the product, as an identifiable image associated with it 4)To serve as part of the protective sleeve
