2 2 Peter 1:12-21 I. Having God's Word In You (vv.12-15) James 1:11-12 11 For the sun rises with its scorching heat and withers the grass; its flower falls, and its beauty perishes. So also will the rich man fade away in the midst of his pursuits. 12 Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him. James 4:13-14 13 Come now, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit"— 14 yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. 2 Peter 1:15 And I will make every effort so that after my departure you may be able at any time to recall these things.

3 II. Holding On To The Eyewitness Testimonies Of God's Word (vv.16-18). 2 Peter 1:12-21 Luk 9:28-36 John 17:20 "I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, 1 Jon 1:1-3

4 III. Obeying God's Prophetic Word (vv.19-21). 2 Peter 1:12-21 2 Timothy 3:16-17 16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work. Romans 15:4 For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. Psalm 34:10 10 The young lions suffer want and hunger; but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing. 1 Thessalonians 2:13 And we also thank God constantly for this, that when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men but as what it really is, the word of God, which is at work in you believers.

5 “KNOWLEDGE OF CHRIST THROUGH INSPIRED REVELATION” (2 Peter 1:12-21) Acts 10:43 To him all the prophets bear witness that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name." Acts 2:38 And Peter said to them, "Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. John 20:30-31 30 Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; 31 but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.
