Each state has policies and issues regarding teacher certificates

You must obtain a new certificate when you move to a new state

Teachers are generally certified in the area of their major(s)

South Dakota has a broad scope; Some states have a narrow scope.

You may or may not receive other areas of certification

Endorsements Varies from State to State Each state has differing required courses for specific endorsements

You may need to submit PPST (Praxis I) scores or take another test
9
You may need a specialized course such as “State History”

A provisional certificate with time period to correct deficiencies issued

Apply for a SD certificate upon completion of the program

Select a Permanent Address on Applications

Official transcripts from ALL institutions attended—send to Simko

Name Change Please email me of the pending name change if used on any of the teach certification applications.

Passing Praxis II test scores are required for teacher certification
