3 FOR MEN Normally used for the treatment of stroke and chronic pain.
Rarely used for the treatment of spinal pain. Frequency of massage depends on type of disease. Chronic pain – minimun 3x, maximum 5x Stroke – minimum 5x, maximum 7x Gap for treatment is one day, also depends on appointment and patient availability Therapy also available for treatment of headache, migraine and stress Massage chair available normally for patients with chronic pain Duration – ½ hour

4 3 different types of oils available for massage, all of them are registered according to Ministry of Health Cannot use oil brought by patients themselves Choice of oil depends on patient’s preferences – some prefer oils that smells good Basic of the oil is coconut and is widely used for almost all different types of oils More heated the oil, stronger the effect (believed) Location of massage depends on disease After massage, not advisable to eat right away

6 FOR WOMEN Massage does not focus on one point only, instead find sites which might have bumps and massage gently Patients with constipation will have pain on waist, stomach ache and heartburn, hence massage stomach area slowly Patients with gastric pain, will have heartburn – usually due to acidic and spicy food. This pain can be relieved by massaging with oil containing cymbopogan which is also known as ‘serai’. Through palm observation, practitioner can predict type of diseases or conditions of the patient such as wheezing or cramp. Migraine can be determined by observing head surface. To relieve stress, massage the hand wrist slowly and few other techniques. Also, can massage ears and neck slowly.

12 MOXIBUSTION Moxa stick-made up of Chinese herb mugwort
Mugwort are dried and rolled up tightly and wrapped in paper forming a cigar-like stick. Used at the point where acupuncture needle has been inserted to intensify the therapeutic benefit. Can also held in one place and rotate in circles on the acupuncture point

13 ELECTRO-ACUPUNCTURE Using a machine to pass small electric current between pairs of acupuncture needles HEAT THERAPY radiates the heat in the form of infrared strengthen the effect of needles on the acupuncture points.

17 WHAT IS SHIRODHARA? Form of Ayurveda therapy
Gently pouring liquids over the forehead of a person Four specialized forms of shirodhara : ksheeradhara, thakradhara, taildhara and jaladhara.

18 It involves the warm and consistent flow of medicated oils on the forehead, specifically on the ‘third eye’ - the chakra point just above and between the eye brows calm the nerves, restore the nerves, release stored emotions, and purify the mind. pursuit of higher states of consciousness.

21 Medicated oils Dhannwantharam Tail, Ksheerabala Tail, Eladi Tail and Aswagandhadi Tail herbal plants can be mixed together to treat these medicated oils are applied to the patients according to their conditions.

22 Diagnosis and Treatment
Before tx doctor will prescribe the oils therapist will help in mix the oils and place it in a jar. name and the identity number of the patients will be written on the opening of the jar each patient cannot use the oil mixture of the other patients.

23 During tx the patients are required to lie on the Shirodhara bed forehead is positioned above the Shirodhara pot. The oil mixture will be poured into a machine and warmed up flows into the Shirodhara pot through a tube onto the forehead of the patients. The flowing of the oil is conducted for 30 minutes and the massage is carried out for 15 minutes.

24 After tx rest for 10 minutes. not to switch on the air-conditioner can only wash the hair after 2 hours finishing the treatment.

25 7 sessions- complete Shirodhara treatment, continuously for seven days.
