For these past two weeks we’ve been investigating this big question. Can someone remind us?
We learned that adjectives can be used in different places in a sentence.
Last time, we learned how to use adjectives to compare.

3. Use –er to compare most short adjectives with one other thing
Earth’s gravity is stronger than the moon’s gravity.
Mercury is tinier than Mars.
Jupiter is bigger than any other planet.

We found out that sometimes, you can’t use the endings –er and –est.
For example, you can’t say, “Science is excitinger than spelling.” What do you do then? …

The moon is the brightest object in the night sky.
Mercury is the nearest planet of all to the sun.

4. Use more with longer adjectives to compare two things.

What if you are comparing one object to two or more other objects? Then you can’t use more. What will you use then?

There are two words, good and bad, that have special forms that must be used when you are comparing things.
Let’s start with the word…
Use most with longer adjectives to compare one thing with two or more other things.
The iris is the most wonderful flower I’ve ever seen.
Some of the most famous poems are about flowers.
Dandelions are the most plentiful flowers of all.

Suppose I wanted to compare this book with one other book. I might say..*

6. bad Comparing with the Adjective This is a bad story by I. M. Dull.
Here is a sentence * that uses the adjective bad.
