2. IDEA and NCLB
Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and No Child Left Behind (NCLB) require:
All students must be included in state and district-wide assessments
All students must be provided access to the general education curriculum
Same standards used for all students
Stress that ALL students must be included. There is not opportunity to “opt out”.

Under the Delaware Testing Program are two options for assessment – DSTP and DAPA.

4. Guidelines for Participation
Required part of student’s IEP
IEP team must
Agree with all 4 statements
Sign (at least 2 IEP team members)
A copy from the current IEP must be included in the child’s portfolio
Stress the importance of parent participation at the IEP meeting. REMIND Parents - if there are questions and uncertainty – STOP and ask the ED or Administrator to clarify or explain!!!
