"To those who urged from the scripture, 'Of that day and hour knoweth no man,' that men are to know nothing concerning the nearness of the advent, Wolff replied: 'Did our Lord say that the day and hour should never be known? Did he not give us signs of the times, in order that we may know at least the approach of his coming, as one knows the approach of summer by the fig-tree putting forth its leaves? Are we never to know that period, whilst he himself exhorteth not only to read Daniel the prophet but to understand him? Daniel 8:8-12 "...toward the four winds of heaven. And out of one of them [arriving out of war and strife from every direction] came forth a little horn [Satan, personating Christ, and his evil angels], which waxed exceeding great [became successful in battles], toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant land [conquest moved toward the glorious Holy land/Palestine]. What Biblical prophecy gives the kingdom to spiritual Israel? Mathew 21:43 "Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof." What assurance do we have that all Biblical prophecies will be fulfilled Ezekiel 12:25 "For I am the Lord: I will speak, and the word that I shall speak shall come to pass; it shall be no more prolonged: for in your days, O rebellious house, will I say the word, and will perform it, saith the Lord God." Kingdom Given To Those Who Produce The Fruit (Cont.) It is amazing that a gap isn't seen because of the 2300-year prophecy in 8:14! Before the 70 weeks began, God anticipated Israel's failure by giving that 2300-year prophecy. This in itself shows that Daniel 9:24 would never be completed by Israel of old and a gap was going to occur! Some expositors say that this is why Daniel fainted; he was shocked that Israel would reject the messiah and time would go on so long. Cut Off The 70 week prophecy relates to that of the sealed (Chazown) vision? Daniel 9:24 "Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon the holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy." Looking at verse 24, "Seventy weeks are determined (Hebrew, hatak)...": hatak; a primitive root; properly, to cut off, i.e. (figuratively) to decree:--determine. only place in the Bible plus ten post-Biblical Jewish sources nine times "cut-off" one time "to decree" The meaning of the roots of Hebrew words generally developed from concrete "cut" to abstract "decree." It is not clear that this has taken place by the time of Daniel. Thus the linguistic evidence-both the root meaning and the dominant usage-favors the meaning of "to cut" here in Daniel 9:24. The seventy weeks are to be cut off from another and it has to be a longer, period of time. Cut Off (Cont.) Has this prophecy been fulfilled / did God have a pure church long ago?--NO! Is there a requirement that all of the seventy weeks be consecutive.--NO! This, man has added and / or assumed. Has "everlasting righteousness" come in / are we experiencing it now?--NO! Is there a tie between the 70 week prophecy, during which the Messiah is "cut off" and the "consummation" or second coming of Christ? Daniel 9:26 & 27 "And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. Cut Off (Cont.) Ellen White knew that the 70th week had not been completed: "The one week--seven years--ended in A. D. 34. Then by the stoning of Stephen the Jews finally sealed their rejection of the gospel; the disciples who were scattered abroad by persecution 'went everywhere preaching the word' (Acts 8:4); and shortly after, Saul the persecutor was converted, and became Paul, the apostle to the Gentiles."-The Desire of Ages, page 233 (Written in 1898) The fact that she is clarifying the definition of the week that the messiah is cut off in the middle of, reveals that the week was never completed and the prophecy was not fulfilled. If the prophecy was fulfilled and the 70th week completed, then why does she feel the need to clarify and / define the week that Jesus would be sacrificed. She describes the mechanism for decoding, and emphasizes the divinity and importance of the information and / or instructions that she relayed from God.
