3. God’s image in the garden
Mankind is made in God’s image Gen 1:27,28
God gives instructions for living:
Be fruitful and increase in number
Fill the earth and subdue it.
Rule over every living creature
God breathes life into man Gen 2:7
God puts the man in the garden

Hard work is commended in scripture. But the need to work in order to eat seems to be a part of God’s judgement

4. Deut 30:15-18
15 See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction. 16 For I command you today to love the LORD your God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commands, decrees and laws; then you will live and increase, and the LORD your God will bless you in the land you are entering to possess.
 17 But if your heart turns away and you are not obedient, and if you are drawn away to bow down to other gods and worship them, 18 I declare to you this day that you will certainly be destroyed. You will not live long in the land you are crossing the Jordan to enter and possess.

If man disobeys, he will have to decide for himself what is ‘good’ and what is ‘evil’
While to modern man such a prospect may seem desirable, to the author of Genesis it is the worst fate that could have befallen him. Only God knows what is good ( tob ) for man. Only God can know what is good.

10. God’s representatives in the OT
In the Old Testament God chose men to represent him
We read that God’s Spirit came on them or filled them for a specific ministry
Then the Spirit of God came upon Zechariah son of Jehoiada the priest. He stood before the people and said, "This is what God says: 'Why do you disobey the LORD's commands? You will not prosper. Because you have forsaken the LORD, he has forsaken you.' 2 Chronicles 24:20
The LORD said to Moses, "See, I have called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with ability and intelligence, with knowledge and all craftsmanship, to devise artistic designs, to work in gold, silver, and bronze, in cutting stones for setting, and in carving wood, to work in every craft. Exodus 31:1-5

12. God’s image is being restored in us
As his representatives on Earth
Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. Colossians 3:9,10
With new bodies on the day of resurrection
46But it is not the spiritual that is first but the natural, and then the spiritual. 47The first man was from the earth, a man of dust; the second man is from heaven. 48As was the man of dust, so also are those who are of the dust, and as is the man of heaven, so also are those who are of heaven. 49Just as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the man of heaven. 1 Cor 15:46-49

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death. Romans 8:1,2
As in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. 1 Corinthians 15:22
