1 HEAT TRACING SPECIALIST
WHO IS BDP?

2 ABOUT BDP Calgary Based Integrated EPC Company specialized in heat tracing Holds APEGGA Permit to Practice Offices In Calgary & Edmonton 25 Full Time Employees & 5 Engineering Consultants on “As Needed” Basis Developed Internal Quality Program

3 ABOUT BDP – continued Safety is a core value at BDP
Good references with Alberta clients Designed steam tracing facilities on all Petro-Canada projects in Alberta since 2002 as subcontractor to large EPC firms Key People: Tony Miletic – 25 years of experience in piping design, last 15 years in steam tracing Drago Crnogorac – over 25 years in project management

4 ABOUT BDP – continued Construction Capabilities
BDP Industrial – BDP’s construction group engaged for work at modularization shop or at site with non-union or CLAC labor Subcontract NewFab Industries at mod shop or at site where union labor is required

5 HEAT TRACING SPECIALIST
WHY BDP?

6 WHAT ARE ADVANTAGES AND VALUE-ADD OF USING A SPECIALIZED INTEGRATED EPC COMPANY TO EXECUTE HEAT TRACING PORTION OF THE PROJECT?

7 HEAT TRACING ON LARGE PROJECTS
Total Installed Cost of heat tracing facilities can be significant on mega projects in Alberta BDP’s experienced staff could support large EPC firm during FEED with more accurate scoping of heat tracing facilities BDP’s input during front-end design improves the overall accuracy of FEED cost estimates with lower risk of changes during detailed design and lower schedule impact.

8 BDP ADVANTAGE

9 BDP ARE HEAT TRACING SPECIALISTS
We are specialized in heat tracing design, engineering and installation We have experience on large projects as subcontractor to large EPC firms Leadership skills of our key people will ensure quality and "fit for purpose" design

10 BDP IS SMALL AND EFFICIENT
We are small, flexible and react fast We are very efficient – no wasted hours We plan our activities well and we stay on schedule and on budget We have proven track record on previous heat tracing projects

11 INTEGRATED EPC APPROACH TO HEAT TRACING

12 INTEGRATED EPC APPROACH TO HEAT TRACING
Front-End Design BDP can provide design input at the front-end of the project (number and layout of steam and condensate manifolds is particularly important at this stage) Constructability input in early design stages Our front-end design input leads to accurate and complete scope definition Well defined scope results in accurate cost estimate

13 INTEGRATED EPC APPROACH TO HEAT TRACING -continued
Detail Engineering and Procurement Our detailed and organized approach to executing design activities results in quality and fit-for-purpose design Regular constructability input and review meetings are held during detail design We keep track of our progress, measure performance during detail design and make corrections where necessary Procurement and expediting of heat tracing material

14 INTEGRATED EPC APPROACH TO HEAT TRACING -continued
Construction Effective close-out of detailed design and transition to installation phase Installation of heat tracing facilities in the module shop and on site BDP construction group uses non-union affiliated DHL on site BDP’s sub-contractor NewFab will execute all union work on site BDP design office will provide on-site engineering support to our construction team

15 INTEGRATED EPC APPROACH TO HEAT TRACING -continued
Fabrication – Cost Advantage Steam/Condensate Manifolds and Piping fabrication overseas via association with a fabrication shop in South-East Europe for further cost advantage

16 QUALITY AND SAFETY

17 QUALITY AND SAFETY BDP has Quality Program and follows internally established quality procedures If subcontracted by another EPC firm BDP could follow the firm’s quality program for consistency if necessary Safety is a core value at BDP. We apply safety principles from front-end and detailed design and procurement to construction Lessons Learned program used on projects Manifold Control Sheet on PC EDD has minimum information and four manifolds per sheet. On RCP1.1 there is one manifold per sheet with a lot of data.

18 OUR LOCATION

19 OUR LOCATION Detailed design and engineering of tracing facilities will be executed by a dedicated team located in our downtown Calgary office with support from our Edmonton office team. Office in Edmonton - proximity to refinery sites for field visits, verifications and construction support At about 85% completion of the project designers are gone to other projects, other companies or simply were laid off to cut the cost (huge number of hours were burned at the beginning of the projects with no or very little effect and those hours are missing at the end of the project). NEW PEOPLE BROUGHT TO FINISH THE PROJECT HAVE DIFFICULTIES TO CATCH THE LOOSE ENDS.

20 DESIGN BASIS AND PROJECT SET-UP

21 DESIGN BASIS AND PROJECT SET-UP
BDP needs the following data to carry out detailed heat tracing design: P&ID and Line List 3D Model Piping Isometrics in AutoCad format Equipment List and Layout Data transfer through FTP connection. Regular project progress meetings are encouraged.

22 REFERENCES

23 REFERENCES Petro-Canada RCP project
Design and Engineering of all steam tracing facilities. Produced over 15,000 engineering documents and worked off 50,000 hours over 18 months. Work completed on schedule and under budget. Petro Canada EDD Project, Edmonton AB Provided Steam Tracing design and Steam Tracing construction support on ISBL Plant 63 and construction support on OSBL. Produced more than 2000 documents ahead of schedule and within the budget. Significantly improved Steam Tracing construction phase by introducing two additional types of documents: Steam Tracing Circuit Log and Manifold Installation Drawing. These documents have become the main reference documents for the construction crew.

24 REFERENCES - continued
Petro Canada SIG / SIG-MOD Project, Edmonton AB Provided piping design and construction support on ISBL Plant 63 and OSBL Plant 13. Interquiza PTA Plastic Plant, Montreal, QB Design of manifold locations and interconnecting piping between steam/condensate headers and manifolds. Produced construction isometrics and provided an update to the Rebis Model using team of 19 designers. Steam Tracing isometrics were produced in Calgary using a team of four designers.
