‘A’ishah Bint Abu Bakr (RA) By Jasmine Zoha

Who was ‘A’ishah (RA)? ‘A’ishah and her family were very close to Rasulullah (SAW) ‘A’ishah was told that she would marry Rasulullah (SAW) when she was 9 years old but was not going to be married to him until later ‘A’ishah (RA) was the center of attention good and bad reasons. For example, everyone knew that ‘A’ishah (RA) was Rasulullah (SAW)’s favorite wife so his other wife’s got jealous. But, Rasulullah told them that he only got revelations when he was with ‘A’i’shah.

‘A’ishah (RA)’s Test One day ‘A’ishah (RA) lost her necklace on a trip and waited for someone to come find her. While she sat and waited, she fell asleep and Safwan ibn al Muatta as-Salmi found her. She then went on a horse to get back. She hadn’t realized, as she was sick, that people had been gossiping about her and telling a lie. She cried about how people were telling lies about her and wondered why Allah (SWT) had not sent a revelation concerning her. Rasulullah (SAW) told her that if she had not done something wrong, Allah (SWT) would send a revleation, but if she did something wrong she should ask Allah (SWT) for forgiveness. But she knew she hadn’t done anything wrong so she waited for a revelation that would prove she was innocent. Then finally a revelation came saying that the Muslims should not spread rumors until they have a witness and that they are not true believers if they do.

Learnings from Rasulullah (SAW) ‘ A’ishah (RA) was a very quick and intelligent learner. She learned many things from Rasulullah (SAW) and taught them to the other Muslims. She became a teacher after Rasulullah (SAW)’s death so that the Muslims could learn the ahadith and Shari’ah. Many of the Sahabah came to ‘A’ishah and the other wives of Muhamad when they ever were in doubt. People were also eager to see the place where Rasulullah (SAW) was buried. ‘A’ishah was very close to ‘Uthman (RU) and spoke very highly of him. So, when he died, ‘A’ishah with to avenge him. However, Ali (RU) thought this was a very bad idea. So the 4 armies, Ali (RU) and Talhah (RU), and az-Zubair (RU and ‘A’ishah (RA, set out to negotiate what to do. But, at dawn, a war broke out between the Muslim armies, not the leaders. ‘A’ishah (RA) was slightly wounded so Ali (RU) chose 40 people and her brother to help her get home. She left saying that Ali (RA) was the best of people.

The Mother of the Believers ‘A’ishah became well-known and famous for her knowledge of fiqh and hadith. Everyone came to her for answers to their questions. She also became well-known for her kindness and generosity. She gave away lots of money, forgetting to leave some for herself. ‘A’ishah would never break her fast knowing that Rasulullah (SAW) said that fasting on the day of Arafat would erase the previous year’s bad deed’s. In the month of Ramadan in the year 58 H, ‘A’ishah became very sick, and Abdullah Ibn Abbas told her that she was the most beloved by Rasulullah (SAW). And that there is not one masjid that does not recite the surah of her innocence at night and day. But ‘A’ishah replied that she wished she would be forgotten completely. May Allah (SWT) bless ‘A’ishah- the Mother of the Believers and teacher of the Ummah.
