Interior Designer Plans and supervises the design and arrangement of building interiors and furnishings Must be creative and have a knowledge of color, design, and furnishings Requires a 4 or 5 year college degree Professional standards are set by the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID)

5. Furniture Designer Designs furniture based on current trends and historical influences May attend a 2 or 4 year school or work freelance

6. Architect Designs buildings to satisfy people’s needs Ensures correct materials are used by the contractor and builders and that the proper codes are met Requires a 5-year college degree Professional standards set by the American Institute of Architects (AIA).

7. Contractor Works with the architect and designer; supervises the building of a project Will hire sub-contractors for trade specific jobs such as plumbing, masonry, painting, etc.

8. Carpenter Constructs the framework of a building, usually working with wood; also install the windows, doors, cabinets, stairs, and paneling. Will receive on the job training May attend a trade school

9. Trade Specific Industries Electrician – install wiring and repair systems Masons – lay foundations of concrete Plumbers – install pipe systems to carry water, steam, and gas.
