2 Appraiser Assesses the value of buildings and property Need a 2-year degree to assess residential property and a 4-year degree to assess commercial property Must be licensed or certified

3 Real Estate Agent/Broker Matches buyers with properties for sale, rent, or lease Must pass a test and be licensed

4 Interior Designer Plans and supervises the design and arrangement of building interiors and furnishings Must be creative and have a knowledge of color, design, and furnishings Requires a 4 or 5 year college degree Professional standards are set by the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID)

5 Furniture Designer Designs furniture based on current trends and historical influences May attend a 2 or 4 year school or work freelance

6 Architect Designs buildings to satisfy people’s needs Ensures correct materials are used by the contractor and builders and that the proper codes are met Requires a 5-year college degree Professional standards set by the American Institute of Architects (AIA).

7 Contractor Works with the architect and designer; supervises the building of a project Will hire sub-contractors for trade specific jobs such as plumbing, masonry, painting, etc.

8 Carpenter Constructs the framework of a building, usually working with wood; also install the windows, doors, cabinets, stairs, and paneling. Will receive on the job training May attend a trade school

9 Trade Specific Industries Electrician – install wiring and repair systems Masons – lay foundations of concrete Plumbers – install pipe systems to carry water, steam, and gas.
