1 RASTERIZING SHAPES IN PHOTOSHOP RASTERIZE: A process in Photoshop of converting a vector image into a bitmap (or raster) image VECTOR: A vector image is created based on geometry points, lines, and curves and are scaleable without quality loss BITMAP OR RASTER: A bitmap (or raster) image is one of the two major graphic types (the other being vector ).vector Bitmap images are comprised of pixels on a grid. Each pixel or "bit" in the image contains information about the color to be displayed. Resizing an image to a lower resolution results in a blocky or blurry look.

3 RASTERIZING SHAPES IN PHOTOSHOP The only way a Bitmap image can equal the quality of a vector image is through file size, also referred to as d.p.i. (DOTS PER INCH). The more Bitmapped “bits” per inch, the better the resolution. In Photoshop, the following items always appear in VECTOR format. TEXT ANY CUSTOMS SHAPES THE PEN TOOL
