1 Hestia Roman Name: Vesta Goddess of Hearth & Home By Tiffany Toney and Lexy Rabenberg

2 Relationships Hestia is the first born daughter of Kronos and Rhea. Hestia’s brother is Zeus. Courted by Poseidon and Apollo. She swore on oath upon the head of Zeus that she would not marry and stay a virgin. She had no children.

3 Vesta Temple in Rome This temple in Rome honors Hestia.

4 Myths As the oldest child to Kronos she was the first to be swallowed by her father. After all of her siblings were finally swallowed Zues eventually forced his father to disgorge Hestia and her siblings. Since she was the first to be swallowed she was the last to be taken out of Kronos stomach. She eventually became known as the oldest and youngest of all her siblings. Even though Apollon and Poseidon asked for her hand in mariagge she refused and begged Zues to let her stay an eternal virgan. Zues agreed and Hestia took her place at her royal hearth.

5 Location Although Hestia was an Olympian. She decided not to live on Mount Olympus but to remain on earth with mortals. She reined over every fireplace or hearth.

6 Animals Her animal was a calf.

7 Object Hestia is often referred to with fires because she is the Goddess of hearths. She is dwells in the flames of every altar and fireplace.

8 Weaknesses/Strengths Her strength was that she was calm and gentle and she was perfect for representing characteristics of the home and family. Weaknesses were that she was not very good at showing emotions.
