2 What is fat? Fat is something that is found in food, the most concentrated type of energy a human can use. Some fats come from animal but some come from plants too.

3 Source of fat Saturated fat:
Saturated fat is bad for our body as it will raise cholesterol in our heart. People could get a heart attack if too much saturated fat was consumed. Unsaturated fat: Unsaturated fat are much more better compared to saturated fat as some testing shows that it can raise HDL (“good” cholesterol). It is also important for a healthy brain. Trans fat: Trans fat is an artificial fat that is mostly made in factories. It is bad for health and could cause problems like coronary heart disease, cancer, diabetes, obesity, liver dysfunction and infertility.

4 Advantages of fats It is a dietary energy needed for growth processes in human body and other functions as well. It can make skin & hair healthier and maintain body temperature. It keeps arteries functioning by maintaining normal level of beneficial HDL cholesterol in our body. It is vital for constructing body cells and hormones.

5 Disadvantage of fats Adverse effect on one's health
Contain high amounts of salt and calories Easily lead to: Obesity Overweight Heart disorder Hyper tension

6 Ways to reduce fats Use lean meats and low fat dairy products.
Use unsaturated vegetable oils and margarines. Read nutrition and ingredient labels on food packages to check the amounts of fat contain. Limit use of products that contain large amount of saturated fats. Examples are: Coconut milk Pie crusts Cakes and cookies
