What is Intelligence? learning, reasoning, understanding, and similar forms of mental activity capacity for learning, reasoning, understanding, and similar forms of mental activity; aptitude in grasping truths, relationships, facts, meanings, etc.

Psychology- the science of mind and behavior Your intelligence level starts within your mind Your mind and how you think determines how you behave. 3 Types of Intelligence – Analytical: needed for problem solving – Creative: reacting adaptively to novel situations – Practical: required for everyday tasks

Monkeys! They are primates Most monkeys live in tropical regions in the Americas, Africa, and Asia and spend much of their lives in treetops Many species of monkeys live in groups called troops In Africa, mandrills can live in troops of up to 45 monkeys Mandrill troops are led by a dominant male, which has the brightest colors on his face--and also on his rear! The troop also includes several breeding females and their offspring.

Communication Skills Monkeys communicate with hand gestures, facial expressions, and noises called vocalizations

Eating Techniques they eat a variety of different foods Many species of monkeys eat fruits, seeds, roots, herbs Pygmy marmosets drill holes in trees and drink the tree sap

Grooming They groom to stay clean Grooming involves removing potential parasites from the hair untangling knots courtship rituals

Choosing Mates They bond with one another by grooming They also bond by eating and sleeping close to one another.

Childcare birth in monkeys varies by species The pygmy marmoset lives in a group of six After birth, the offspring are carried around by the males in the community They are returned to the mother for nursing

Hearing Monkeys can hear well They notice any little noise They can tell the difference between their ”troops” noise Mothers can tell from their babies noise and other one

Territory Very territorial First they try to move away when they feel threatened or being challenged they strike They use defense techniques to fight
