2 Collective Impact is… A group of actors from different sectors agreeing to work on a common agenda to solve a complex social problem. Based on the premise that no single organization can create large scale lasting social change alone.

3 Collective Impact is NOT Isolated impact Just a fancy name for collaboration Community impact Not just scaling Appropriate for all problems

4 5 conditions of success 1.Common agenda 2.Shared measurement 3.Mutually reinforcing activities 4.Continuous communication 5.Backbone organization

5 4 phases of development 1.Generate ideas—conversation, common ground (6 months) 2.Initiate action—using data, involving funders– (two years) 3.Organize for impact—backbone capacity (a decade) 4.Sustain action for impact—communicate results with stories and data

6 3 preconditions 1.Influential champion passionate about the issue but willing to let others figure it out CEO level? 2.Adequate financial resources anchor funder minimum of 2-3 years 3.Urgency for change
