4. 4 Out-of-the-Box “Backup” Recycle Bin Something an end-user can use to recover from accidental or mistaken content deletions within a limited amount of time Versioning Useful to prevent accidental overwrites of existing content Microsoft Support Ticket / SLA By opening a service ticket with Microsoft, they will provide a full site collection restore from an earlier state (disaster recovery)

5. 5 Things To Consider… Recycle Bin Not everything goes to the Recycle Bin (i.e. permissions, list views, metadata) Recycle Bin (and secondary Recycle Bin) can be emptied by users and Admins Recycle Bins are temporary Recycle bins are not backup! Versioning Only useful if they are enabled with an appropriate number of versions Library setting only, not available for individual folders, documents or items Microsoft Support Ticket / SLA Microsoft will restore the entire site collection from their previous backup to its original location (in-place restore). Cannot specify the restore period, location nor anything less than the entire collection. May take several hours or days to be restored. Prepare for downtime.
