4 THE ZIGGURAT OF UR Unit 3, lesson 6 - A Ziggurat to the Gods

5 ZIGGURAT - a stair-stepped temple The temples were made of mud-bricks. Inside each ziggurat was a place for a statue of the god and a place for the priest to bring the offerings. Sumerians believed the gods lived in the temples. The people believed the gods communicates their wishes to the priests in the ziggurat.
