15. AP Courses  MAHS offers Advanced Placement courses under the College Board AP Program. Each AP course is taught at the college level and is designed to be “challenging, stimulating, and, compared to other high school courses, often takes more time, requires more work, gives greater opportunity for individual progress and accomplishment, and explores subjects in greater depth.”  AP exams are administered during the spring of each year.  North Carolina is paying for AP exam fees for the 15-16 school year.  By signing up for an AP Course, students understand that the rigor and workload will be significantly greater than that of a regular course.  An AP course may not be dropped after the first week of class, with the exception of extenuating circumstances.  If you take the 1 st half of an AP course, you may not drop the course mid- year.  If you sign up for an AP Course, you must take the AP exam at the end of the year in order to receive AP credit.

16. Online Courses  Online courses are only utilized in the following situations:  Scheduling conflicts that interfere with graduation requirements  Courses not offered at MAHS in the classroom  Credit recovery for a failed course  Other special circumstances that will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
