2 Geography and Climate of China China is located in Eastern Asia, bordering the East China Sea, Korea Bay, Yellow Sea, and South China Sea, between North Korea and Vietnam The latitude and longitude of China is 35.00N, 105.00E China is mostly mountains, high plateaus, and deserts in the west. The lowest point of China is Turpan Pendi at -154m The highest point is Mount Everest at 8,850m Climate is extremely diverse; tropical in south to sub arctic is north Capital city is Beijing

12 Imperialism in China Many countries were trying to colonize China All these colonizers led to the Opium wars China was just slowed from developing due to colonization China isn’t suffering too bad from it now

13 China’s Rise The people’s republic of China helped unite them Chinese made an effort to graft western technology into China Effort was known as the Self- Strengthening Movement

14 China during World War I The Chinese we allied with the Allies during the war Before the war they were with the Central Powers China declared war on Germany to mainly gain recognition and power Chinese assisted on the Western Front but didn’t do any actual fighting 10,000 Chinese dead at the end of WWI

17 In China 1939-1945 1939, China are attempting to resist Japanese forces 1940, Japan takes Hong Kong peninsula 1941, China breaks relationships with Germany and Italy 1942, Singapore falls to Japan, Chinese defeated in Kinhwa 1943, Chinese launch counter-offensive and retake Changteh 1944, Chinese forces slowly retake their territory 1945, Chinese forces push Japanese all the way back

18 Cold War in China China was allied with the USSR China had nuclear weapons and they were installed Chinese Communists under Mao proclaimed the birth of the peoples republic Chaing-Kai-Shek and Chinese Nationalist forced to flee

19 China’s Influence China was supported by the Soviet Union Soviets help because of the fact that China was communist To promote itself China got involved in the Korean War, threatening to send troops to attack U.S. forces Soviets helped Mao fight off Nationalists and a mutual defense treaty was made against Japan and the U.S.

21 Technology in China Several kinds of Technology available in China like High- Speed Rails, Nuclear Power, Super Computers, etc. The amount of technology in China helped massively because their large population Technology has impacted China greatly allowing them to grow at an extreme rate each year
