1 WA 104 : TOOLS FOR WORK ORGANIZATION IN THE CLEAN ROOM Erwan Bertrand Olga Beltramello

2 Facility Responsible : Claudio Silverio Montanari Safety Responsible : Erwan Bertrand Access in clean room : All installation/commissioning/repair activities to be done in clean room whether they concern infrastructure or the detector have to be documented and agreed upon in advance by the facility and safety responsible. Each activity has to be integrated into the general planning to avoid any conflict. (where is the planning set up and accessible ? Web page ? ) A work declaration and the authorization request shall be done by the activity technical responsible to the safety responsible in advance (at least 2 weeks before the beginning of activity)

3 Depending on the risks associated to the activity, a work package analysis will be performed. The need of a work package analysis is under the appreciation of the safety and facility responsible. The WP analysis meeting is composed of: Activity responsible Erwan + Claudio + all required expert During WPA meeting, all the crucial technical and safety issues are analyzed and agreed. A PPSPS (Special Safety and Health Protection Plan) and the activity procedure shall be submitted in advance.

4 It should pay particular attention to the description of all the special risks associated to the work to be performed and their counter measures. The following can be considered as “special risks”: Working at heights Hot work (welding etc.) Working with flammable gases Working with chemicals and solvents Working near high voltage installations Transport and use of radioactive sources or materials Cryogenics work …

5 The PPSPS shall contain : A short description of the work to be done. The list of material/equipment to be installed or removed from the clean room The list of people working in clean room, including the WP responsible person, contact person on the site. The list of the attended specialized training (ex : working at height, scissor lifts,…) followed by each person of the WP and which is required for the WP activity should be indicated in the document. A detailed schedule of operations, including deliveries and specific access conditions linked to them or the work to be performed. A safety assessment according to the documents with the detailed installation method and specific safety measures.

6 Detailed request for transport, power, water, compressed air supply, telephone or network connections, waste, … Detailed request for storage Lists of radioactive material (sources for calibration, etc) The necessity to issue an IS37 or a fire permit request is determined during the work package analysis. Erwan will be in charge of those operation and coordination safety measure with experts If required, a joint safety inspection is required before authorizing the activity.

7 My Questions : Access only if WP analysis done and PPSPS approved (put on EDMS) Access rights via EDH – who sign ? Claudio and Erwan ? Ask a new access right to Greg Smith Connect the door to EDH - When ? Working outside normal working hours ? 8:00 – 18:00 and after ?
